Our family vacation in California started out full of excitement and anticipation. Ali Grace could not wait. We flew out of Memphis on a Saturday. She thought the plane ride was awesome. She had no fear or worries. She was just upset because they did not give her any peanuts.
Audrey Caroline did fabulous. She slept part of the time and was entertaining us the rest. The flight to Dallas was around an hour. The flight to San Diego was over 3 hours. I thought it would be nice for us all to take a nice little nap. Well, that did not happen.
Ali Grace loved sitting by the window and watching everything get smaller.
We landed in San Diego around 3:30 (5:30 central time). We had a little scare when Billy's bag did not show up in baggage claim. Don't get me wrong. I am glad my bag was accounted for considering it had both girls clothes in it too. The whole reason we were in CA was for a conference for Billy, so it would have been bad for him not to have his work clothes. Thankfully, it finally showed up.We took a shuttle immediatly to where we were staying. Hotel del Coronado was beautiful. The landscaping was gorgeous, the weather was a dream (on this day) and everyone was so friendly.
When we arrived, we dropped off our bags and headed out to see the sites and find something a grocery store. We had to find nursery water. When we asked people if they knew where we could find some, they were confused. They have never heard of it until we found a Von's grocery store.
There were several restaurants near our hotel and of course we picked Mexican. It was good, but different from our favorite Mi Hacienda in Starkville. Billy tried fish tacos. He liked them, but I stuck to what I know...chimichangas.
After we finished supper, the temperature dropped fast. It was very cool, so we headed back to the room. It had been a long day and we were all a little tired. My only problem was that I was on central time and could not sleep. I think that I slept a hour the whole night. Thank goodness for Nick@Nite!
